Base Metals

Chemically, base metals are metals that oxidize in air. In jewelry making we consider all non0precious metals to be base metals. Example of such metals include stainless steel and aluminum. These metals are often used to make chain maille that is intended for more casual or everyday wear as opposed to fine jewelry, which is generally suited to more formal occasions.
