Aluminum Colors
In its natural state aluminum, or in our case, anodized aluminum is a silvery metallic color that looks very similar to stainless steel. Once anodized, aluminum rings can be dyed attractive colors such as blue, violet or green. This color does not go all of the way through the ring; it is only a surface treatment and even a relatively shallow scratch can reveal the silvery aluminum color beneath the dye. Also, anodizing and dying are chemical processes and the degree to which the dye is absorbed by the rings varies from batch to batch. This means that the ring color may not be uniform from batch to batch or even from ring to ring. This need not detract from jewelry made using dyed aluminum since these differences are part of what makes each piece of jewelry unique.
